Then the nations that are left all around you shall know that I am the LORD; I have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted that which was desolate. I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it - Ezekiel 36:36

In the Spring of 1954, the San Jose Baptist Association planted a new church to reach the western portion of what we now call Silicon Valley. From 36 charter members meeting in the pastor’s house, they quickly grew to a church of almost 500 persons by 1963. They built new buildings and envisioned reaching even more people across the region. They attempted to plant another church in nearby Mountain View, and in the early 1980s, they helped plant Chinese Bible Baptist Church (Now Logos Baptist Church, a facility and mission partner.)  However, attendance, membership, and baptisms slowly declined over the next four decades. Despite a strong core congregation and many efforts to reach their community, they found themselves with just a few members in the Spring of 2022. That’s when they reached out to GCA’s ReNEW team and eventually became the second church to join our ReNEW strategy formally.  Santa Cruz Baptist Church, a five-year-old SBC church plant, graciously agreed to become their foster parent congregation and is helping to support and lead them through this process.

With the ReNEW team, this congregation seeks a replanter for the multi-ethnic heart of Silicon Valley. What if God placed a Baptist Church in the heart of Silicon Valley decades ago, near influential companies like Apple, Meta, Google, HP, and Stanford University? We believe He did.
