The Great Commission Association of Southern Baptist Churches (GCA) exists to aid and assist each other in the fulfilling of the Great Commission through church planting, evangelism, leadership training, pastor/staff support and fellowship.
We seek to reach the Central Coast Region through multiple churches and different styles of ministry and worship. We desire to reach all people groups with churches that fit their language and culture.
We value the richness of God’s people and seek to unite under the banner of Christ. Presently, we have eight languages and at least nine cultures within our association. This is wonderful, yet cultural diversity requires understanding among all parties. Whenever we seek to accomplish a task there are at least nine “right” ways to get it done! We believe that the Kingdom of God is bigger than any one culture so we seek to work together as a model to the world that we are One in Christ.
GCA is self-supporting. All member churches participate through regular monthly contributions. We ask each church to fund the association with 3% of their budget offerings. This is missions giving at its basic level. Without such support there is no association.
We are affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention. With over 1700 congregations in California, Southern Baptists constitute the largest non-Catholic religious body in the state.
