The new Great Commission Association of Southern Baptist Churches held its first Pastor and Wife Appreciation Banquet on Oct. 14 with 149 in attendance. Every wife was presented a gift bag and appreciation gifts worth more than $5000 were given away to those who were able to attend.
The volunteer banquet team of Meghan Bennett, Cindy Cook and Sara Latham created a beautiful banquet atmosphere through their creation and selection of the decorations, games and gift selections.
Pastor Port Wilburn and his lovely wife Marshelle encouraged the gathering to make their marriages something special and to live out the biblical teaching of being one flesh.
A highlight was the recognition of every pastor for their years of ministry service. A special presentation was made for those who had served 50 years or more in ministry. The entire audience gave a standing ovation for those who have proven so faithful in God’s call to preach the Gospel. I want to thank our associational ministry staff (GCA, HH and Anthem team members) for going the extra mile in their efforts to make the night full of love and joy for those who serve and sacrifice for God’s churches everyday in our association.
