There are three big changes on the horizon for CCBA member churches. They are:
- A new name for the association is up for adoption at our annual missions conference on Oct. 15 at Crosspointe Church in Milpitas. The Administrative Council and the Executive Board have approved the name “Great Commission Association of Southern Baptist Churches” to be presented to the messengers for their consideration. The logo above represents a variety of people and churches united in joyful relationships around the cross. (Some people don’t see the cross at first glance, but it is there.) We have purchased the domain name of www.gcasbc.org and look forward to the new name consideration. Our bylaws state that our mission is to assist churches in fulfilling the Great Commission so we simply matched the name to our stated mission.
- A new focus to truly create quality relationships and resources for our pastors and churches. The pastor and family portion of this new focus will be rolled out at the Pastor and Wives Banquet on Oct. 14 and the church portion will be highlighted during the Annual Missions Conference Oct. 15. I won’t go into the details right now but if you attend both events I am very sure you will be amazed at what God is doing through this effort. These are don’t miss events. Click on the links above to register now. All church members and their guests are welcome to attend the missions conference on Oct 15, starting at 10am.
- New bylaws will be introduced at missions conference. I know that you can barely contain your excitement but it really is true! The Executive Board elected a bylaw revision team 18 months ago and they have completed their work. The new bylaws been approved by the Executive Board and will be submitted at the Annual meeting. We cannot vote on the new bylaws for six months according to our current bylaws.
- Did I mention Chick-fil a for lunch at the Missions Conference? You have to sign up by Oct.4 to share this meal during our fellowship time after the conference.
I look forward to seeing all of you very soon.
